Regulatory Assurance Manager

What you'll do

In this key role, you’ll be developing an understanding of the complex systems processes and data flows from multiple source systems through to the regulatory reporting database in order to complete a comprehensive review of the outputs. Throughout the course of your work, you’ll maintain your understanding of change and new reporting requirements.

You’ll also be:

  • Reviewing high risk returns for compliance with the mandatory regulatory procedures
  • Running the high level control framework on reports and understanding where reported data is sourced from and what checks are appropriate
  • Holding responsibility for the assurance of a set of external regulatory returns
  • Making sure that the reporting is adequate in providing audit trails and analysis to support the published numbers
  • Developing a proactive approach to customer engagement and stakeholder management, including both the data suppliers and senior risk and finance colleagues
  • Supporting issue management and remediation

The skills you'll need

For this role, it’s crucial that you have a good understanding of relevant risk policies, external regulatory reporting requirements and of Basel II or III in order to make sure that the reports and the reporting environment conform to internal and regulatory requirements.

We'll also need you to have a professional accountancy qualification along with experience of applying technical or regulatory accountancy standards. You'll also have experience of working in a banking regulatory environment and have a deep understanding of banking data and CBI regulatory requirements.

We’ll also look for:

  • Experience of working with credit risk or financial systems
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of employees on complex issues
  • The ability to work to tight timeframes and maintain high quality standards for design and delivery
  • Sound decision making skills and the ability to exercise good judgement under pressure and identify the possibility of any risks that may arise
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to correctly interpret underlying information and assess the impact on regulatory returns
  • The ability to understand and analyse complex problems, formulate practical solutions and track them to resolution
