  • As Head of Data operations, you’ll define and lead the delivery of the data governance framework across all decision engines, platforms and data initiatives
  • You’ll be leading the effective management of data in collaboration with business and functional leads
  • Take on a high profile and highly influential role, utilising expertise and the analysis of data to shape the future of the bank for customers and colleagues

What you'll do

Reporting to Chief Technology and Information Officer at Ulster Bank, you’ll oversee any data remediation activities to drive value for the bank, and to meet regulatory requirements. We’ll look to you to continually benchmark and enhance the data management framework to make sure it is fit for purpose.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of business intelligence and machine learning capabilities
  • Leading the design and rollout of the data platform and associated data management and analytics tool stack
  • Driving value through the continued adoption of the control framework for data which meets the range of regulatory requirements for data management
  • Creating and driving a cohesive data management service agenda, bringing together the full data management service offering including root cause and remediation, lineage, profiling service and data coverage delivery
  • Leading, managing and developing the Data Operations team, ensuring its effectiveness and efficiency to support effective bank-wide data management

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a solid grounding in data governance, data management and data technologies. You’ll also need strong problem and analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex data and deliver findings in a user friendly and informative manner.

You’ll need the ability to take a pragmatic approach to data and always look at the whole horizon of information to take a logical and sensible approach to key data in supporting customer and colleagues. On top of this, you’ll need the ability to navigate and develop key control frameworks to make sure regulatory criteria is met.

In addition, you’ll demonstrate:

  • The ability to plan and execute at both strategic and operational levels concurrently
  • Strong communication skills, with the capability maintain business relationships at all levels, within a changing and fast moving environment
  • The ability to lead multi locational teams
  • Sound and broad business background with a deep vertical knowledge of the technical aspects of operations, risk, finance, markets, retail or commercial
  • A track record of working in a large, diverse organisation, establishing partnerships across all parts of the business
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data applications
