Financial Control Manager

The Requirements

Join us as a Financial Control Manager in Belfast

  • You'll be supporting a high profile programme, which aims to simplify our structure and reduce the number of legal entities in the organisation
  • You'll be honing your project expertise and helping us shape a robust and responsive risk management culture
  • This role is available for a period of up to 16 months

What you'll do

You'll play a key part in an important programme of work which is setting about reducing the number of legal entities in the organisation in order to minimise compliance risks and costs. This will involve working with senior stakeholders and managing the legal entity rationalisation work stream.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting financial control activities for the entities identified for rationalisation until they are dissolved, including legal entity reviews, review of statutory accounts and clearance of ledger and static rationalisation
  • Collaborating with and updating senior stakeholders, including regular reporting to ExCo level
  • Ensuring all aspects of the entity closure process are completed, documented and followed through to conclusion
  • Liaising with colleagues in India in relation to ledger management and maintenance
  • Managing external relationships with auditors and Grant Thornton in their capacity as liquidator
  • Delivering substantiated and materially accurate legal entity balance sheets for entities within the legal entity rationalisation programme
  • Coordinating production and undertaking review of annual financial statements for entities within the legal entity rationalisation programme

The skills you'll need

We're looking for a qualified account with strong post-qualification experience gained in a large accountancy firm or in the financial services industry.

You'll also need:

  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and managing key finance deliverables
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial statements preparation
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly articulate issues to senior managers
  • The ability to forge trusting and influential relationships, and give challenge where necessary
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Good problemsolving skills, with the ability to apply your finance expertise to a diverse range of financial issues
