Divisional Controller

The Requirements

We're looking for a Divisional Controller to join us in Dublin

What you'll do

As a Divisional Controller, you'll be accountable for the end-to-end control and ownership of divisional and legal entity balance sheets for the business area. You'll oversee the delivery and integrity of monthly financial information, including balance sheet, profit and loss account and supporting data, and provide value added commentary to the Senior Business Partner, while at the same time leading and developing a team of finance professionals.

You'll also be accountable for the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts feeding the relevant balance sheet, and making sure they're consistent with the bank's policies, procedures and controls.

Along with this, you'll be:

  • Managing strategic finance change programmes
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues in Ulster Bank Finance
  • Maintaining and improving the framework for management review and challenge of substantiation and reconciliation outputs
  • Contributing to decision making on complex or specialist issues, demonstrating judgement and a thorough understanding of the business
  • Reviewing technical papers and interpreting them for senior stakeholders

The skills you'll need

We're looking for a qualified accountant with significant experience in an audit environment or the financial services industry. You'll have good leadership skills and experience of managing a small team of professionals, coupled with an understanding and knowledge of the drivers of business performance.

Along with this, you'll need:

  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and manage key financial deliverables
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly articulate issues to senior management
  • The ability to identify, build and enhance key relationships, influencing and challenging as needed

It would also be an advantage to have:

  • Consultancy or direct banking experience
  • FINREP reporting experience
