Risk Analytics Manager

What you'll do

The Risk Information Services team supports risk teams through the production and coordination of relevant management information, insights and data management. You'll support the Management team in these aims whilst providing technical guidance to other members of the team. You'll have an aptitude for logical problem solving, analytical reasoning, strong interpersonal and technical skills together with excellent business understanding.

In this role you'll:

  • Work with various bank stakeholders to maintain production and identify enhancements to Risk MI 
  • Manage the month end MI and data extract cycle in a timely manner and ensure deliverables are to the highest standard
  • Ensure that key trend, risks and operational issues are identified, measured, explained and accurately reported to relevant stakeholders
  • Investigate movements in key risk measures, key performance indicators, asset quality and raise issues and build awareness with relevant stakeholders - coupled with strong business knowledge and awareness
  • Determine the MI requirements of the key stakeholders and to ensure that the Credit MI delivered addresses their needs, is clear, concise and meets required standards
  • Ensure that databases are managed in accordance with best in class standards
  • Manage the delivery of ongoing systems and process enhancements to our reporting and production platforms that fit within our strategic system architecture

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll need the ability to understand business and market trends and will have the ability to analyse bank data and convert to business intelligence and to bring data insights to life within relevant market context. You'll have previous experience in financial services in an analytical context, and ideally you'll be from a risk background. 

You'll have:

  • Advanced software skills, for example advanced Excel and Access (SAS, SQL, VBA is also desirable) 
  • Proven, strong analytical skills, including working with complex information, with evidence of good problem solving skills
  • An ability to manage and develop people with strong verbal and communication skills
  • Confidence to influence and interact with internal bank senior management and executives, as well as externally with RBS and other stakeholders 
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting information to monitor and analyse the data quality impacts of data
  • Knowledge of the external environment including economic, regulatory and legal practices, trends and expected developments 
  • A general understanding of the external environment, regulatory and legal practices and how changes in these may impact on risk operations
  • General knowledge of risk disciplines– to include credit risk, operational risk, regulatory risk and markets risk

It would be desirable to have a numerate qualification, or a strong business background that's equivalent to this.
