Senior Business Partner Finance

The Requirements

We're looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join us in Dublin

  • You'll be a finance business partner to the Ulster Bank business executives, providing strategic, timely and effective advice and challenge to drive improved financial and operational performance
  • It's a strategic role, supporting the business in defining and achieving its commercial objectives and influencing business decisions
  • You'll be recognised and trusted for your finance knowledge and expertise, and your ability to skillfully challenge and influence decision making

What you'll do

Reporting to the Head of Finance Business Partnering & Intelligence, this role will see you partnering with executives and senior managers to define the strategy for the Ulster Bank business, and helping to translate it into a financial plan with tangible measures of success. You'll influence strategic investments by formulating ideas, supporting and challenging the relevant assumptions and options. You'll also lead the overall financial plan for your business area, and maintain a close view of business threats and opportunities, reflecting them in any short or long term forecasts.

Your other responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Working with the business and the Finance Business Intelligence team to ensure financial performance is presented in a way that is meaningful and actionable for the business
  • Supporting the business to make decisions by using financial analysis to provide insights into operational performance and making proactive recommendations around levers which the relevant business area controls
  • Driving strong cost control behaviours and supporting the delivery of an equitable and transparent cost allocation process
  • Ensuring the business is at the forefront of the finance business partner operating model, and that future finance demands are proactively addressed
  • Working collaboratively with the Finance Business Intelligence team to agree cross area action plans to address customer feedback and service requirements in the most efficient manner
  • Line managing, coaching and developing a small team of finance professionals

The skills you'll need

This role would be suited to a qualified accountant with experience in the financial services industry, and strong understanding of banking products. You'll need excellent, proven stakeholder and relationship management skills, with a successful history of influencing decision making at senior level.

We'll also expect:

  • Experience of applying financial management skills and techniques to complex business situations, guiding financially optimal decisions
  • An awareness of how the bank operates and drives performance, and the commercial environment we operate in
  • The ability to collaborate across business areas
